William Renshaw OAM

29 January 1926 – 9 February 2026

The team at RDL Accountants were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Will Renshaw. Mr Renshaw was one of the founding partners of RDL Accountants (formerly Renshaw Dawson Lang).

His accounting career began in 1942 after matriculating from Melbourne High School at just 15 years of age. He commenced work with his cousin, David Renshaw Nicholls, at the firm D. R. Nicholls & Company. From 1944 to 1946, he served in the Royal Australian Air Force, including time in the Philippines, contributing to the code‑breaking efforts deciphering Japanese Morse code. Upon returning to Australia, he resumed his role with the same firm.

In 1954, at the age of 28, he became a partner of D. R. Nicholls & Company in the Melbourne CBD, where he remained until 1977 before establishing his own practice, W. F. Renshaw & Co., in Blackburn.  In addition to running a busy accounting practice, he used his professional skills and experience to serve many different Christian organisations.  In 2018 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to the community through a range of organisations.

Mr Renshaw retired as a partner of RDL Accountants in 1990, following the 1986 merger that formed RDL Accountants. His impact, however, continued well beyond his retirement, with numerous client referrals and an enduring interest in the firm and its people.

Many of his former clients remain with RDL Accountants today—including one relationship dating back to 1952. We are grateful for Will’s life, his professional legacy, and the lasting contributions he made to our firm.
